Let me introduce myself...
My name is Reesa Kaplan. I have been a special education teacher in the Canutillo Independent School District for over 32 years. I have worked at Canutillo Elementary, Canutillo High School, Jose Damian, and now at Bill Childress Elementary. I consider myself very fortunate to be apart of the BCE family.
I was born and raised in Connecticut. I graduated Southern Connecticut State University with a BS degree in Special Education. I moved to El Paso in 1981 and taught my first and only year in the EPSID at Guillen Middle School. I have been blessed to be in Canutillo ever since!
I have 2 daughters who attended elementary school in the CISD with me. That seemed like yesterday, but they are now 26 and 28 years old.
While in Special Education I have worked with students from 3 years-22 years old. My goal is to always provide direct and indirect instructional support in a positive learning environment. I instruct students in academic subjects using a variety of techniques such as phonetics, multi-sensory learning, and repetition to reinforce learning and to meet students' varying needs and interest.
I am happy to work with many students I have had in previous year(s) and some new students in my class this year. I will do my best to make sure each student has a motivating, positive, fun, and safe learning experience.
